Basmati Rice exports up eleven.54% in April-October

India’s exports of basmati rice grew through 11.54 consistent with cent to Rs sixteen,963 crore during April-October this economic, official statistics confirmed.

In April-October 2017-18, the exports stood at Rs 15,208 crore.

In extent terms, however, the exports declined to 22.Ninety five lakh tonnes in April-October 2018-19 as towards 23.Seventy two lakh crore within the equal length closing monetary.

“While there may be a marginal decline of three.28 in keeping with cent in line with cent in amount terms, in cost phrases the exports have grown through 11.Fifty four according to cent,” the Commerce and Industry ministry said in a notification.

The predominant export destination for basmati rice are Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, UAE, Kuwait, Yemen, the USA, and UK.

The Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), an self sufficient agency under the Department of Commerce, has registered Basmati Rice as a Geographical Indication (GI) in February 2016, a circulate aimed toward selling outbound shipments.
