CDAC approves proposal to allow foreign investment in commodity derivatives segment

SEBI will speak this at the following board assembly
The SEBI-appointed Commodity Derivatives Advisory Committee has permitted a proposal to permit eligible foreign investors to investment in commodity derivatives section.

The proposal will now be taken up by the SEBI at its next board assembly.

Narinder Wadhwa, President, Commodity Participants Association of India stated SEBI will determine on the eligible overseas entities to change and hedge to the volume of their exposure in bodily commodities.

Although there has been lacklustre reaction with the aid of FPI, it turned into discussed these days in CDAC assembly and individuals recommended for doing away with the ones restrictions to expand their participation with some assessments and balances to deepen the commodities markets, sources stated.

Overall commodity derivatives market intensity will boom if some of the situations are removed. FPIs May be allowed to take part each in metals and non-agriculture commodities along with agriculture commodities which aren’t sensitive.

“We sense the recent ban has dampened the emotions of all commodities members especially the institutional contributors as they do now not want uncertainties of sudden withdrawal of contracts and inconsistent policies,” stated Wadhwa.
