Govt lays down norms for import of certain Pulses

The Commerce Ministry has laid down a technique for import of a few kinds of pulses for the current fiscal and has invited packages from millers.

According to the ministry’s overseas change arm DGFT, millers and refiners of those pulses need licence for imports.

“Procedure for import of 2 lakh tonnes of pigeon peas/ toor dal, 1.Five lakh tonnes urad dal, 1.5 lakh tonnes moong dal and 1.Five lakh tonnes peas (together with yellow peas, inexperienced peas, dun peas, and kaspa peas) is laid down,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said in a word, PTI mentioned.

According to the system, for every refining/ processing unit, applicants will have to provide a self-licensed copy of a document indicating its refining/ processing potential. This file have to be issued by means of a crucial, nation or district authority.

The absence of the file will render the utility liable for rejection, it stated.

“The licence holders shall publish month-to-month statements indicating the real arrival of shipments on the Indian ports,” it delivered.

The u . S . Has been importing 4-6 mt (million tonne) of pulses every year to satisfy domestic demand of approximately 24 mt.

In view of the bumper output, the authorities has imposed quantitative caps on the imports.
