India allowed two nation-run trading companies to import 100,000 tonnes of corn at a concessional 15 percentage import tax, the government said on June 14, as fees of the animal feed jumped in the south Asian country due to drought.

State-run MMTC and NAFED have been each allowed to import 50,000 tonnes of corn for rooster firms in the 2019-20 economic year starting on April 1, it said in a declaration.

India, the world’s 7th-largest corn producer, otherwise imposes a 60 percentage import tax at the grain.
