India’s Cashew exports to US decline in FY18

India’s exports of cashew kernels has come down from 1,14,791 tonnes in 2013-14 to 84,352 in 2017-18. In terms of price, it has grown from Rs 50.58 billion to Rs 58.71 billion all through the period, consistent with today’s statistics from the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India (CEPCI).

There has been an growth of two.5% in quantity, 14% in terms of rupee and 18% in phrases of greenback while as compared to the previous 12 months (2016-2017), which recorded an export of 82,302 tonnes of cashew kernels worth Rs 51.68 billion ($771 million), CEPCI said.

Exports of cashew kernels to the United States became around 33,898 tonnes at a value of Rs 15.05 billion in 2013-14, which has come right down to 13,179 tonnes at Rs 9.06 billion in 2017-18, in keeping with CEPCI statistics.

However, exports to UAE, Japan and Saudi Arabia have seen increase, each in terms of quantity and fee. The UAE, US, Netherlands, Japan and Saudi Arabia have been the top five markets for Indian cashew kernels during 2017-18.
