Pepper trade in Kochi was disrupted on Monday as there has been no buying and selling or arrival from the number one markets due to the national Janata Curfew on Sunday.

Kishore Shamji of Kishor Spices said pepper consignments from the primary markets in Idukki and Wayanad could not be loaded into vans because of the complete lockdown on Sunday.

Most buyers fear that the final down of borders by using Tamil Nadu will similarly disrupt truck arrivals carrying pepper from the neighbouring State to Kochi.

Though Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has reiterated that there will not be any disruption in the movement of shipment, there are times of blockading inward vans unnecessarily with the aid of the police departments, each in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Shamji stated. Such regulations have also affected the supply of trucks for outward consignment movement from the terminal market, he delivered.
