North America is the most important marketplace for India’s turmeric exports: TPCI

India’s turmeric exports have touched $236 million (round Rs 1,632 crore) in 2018 and North America has emerged as the most important market for the commodity, according to Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI).

“We are the global leaders in turmeric and North America is the largest nearby market for the product, at the same time as Europe is the quickest developing marketplace,” TPCI Chairman Mohit Singla said in a announcement Wednesday.

“Turmeric ranks 1/3 within the overall exports of spices from India,” he said.

Singh added that the other importing nations of Indian turmeric are the UAE, Iran, america, Sri Lanka, Japan, the United Kingdom, Malaysia and South Africa.

The other countries which compete India in turmeric exports are Myanmar, Indonesia and the Netherlands, he added.

“India is the world’s largest manufacturer and exporter of turmeric with exports recorded at $236 million in 2018,” he said.

Further, he stated the growing call for of curcumin, a substance determined in turmeric, inside the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic industries is a first-rate aspect using the increase of the spice inside the global market.
