NSE to release 8 new agri-commodity contracts

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) plans to go into trading in agricultural commodities with 8 new contracts that aren’t presently traded on every other exchanges, say reviews.

The proposed new contracts for which the exchange has sought permission from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) encompass almonds, castor oil, soya degum, urad dal, toor dal and pulses, the Hindu Business Line suggested.

Rival Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), has already launched trading in agricultural commodities inclusive of guar seed and guar gum and is mentioned to have already garnered more than 30% marketplace percentage in guar seed.

By launching new commodity contracts, NSE hopes to derive advantages of marketplace incentive scheme delivered by way of Sebi for trading in commodities no longer traded on different exchanges.

There in monstrous scope in agri-commodity buying and selling as stock exchanges are but to tap into the good sized market, which is currently regulated by governments in most states.

Both BSE and NSE are trying to increase agri-commodity trading, as there’s no transaction tax in this segment and might prove appealing for buyers.
