Joshi said the closure of the United Kingdom-based Vedanta Group’s Sterlite Copper Plant in Thoothukudi for the reason that May 2018 affected domestic production of refined copper.

The copper plant, which has the capability to produce four lakh tonnes of subtle copper, was ordered close by using the Tamil Nadu authorities after protests annoying its closure became violent on May 22, 2018.
